A newly released album reimagines a selection of Nat “King” Cole’s holiday classics with fresh arrangements and virtual duets.
A Sentimental Christmas with Nat “King” Cole and Friends: Cole Classics Reimagined uniquely showcases the legendary singer’s remastered and restored vocals paired with contemporary artists John Legend, Kristin Chenoweth, Gloria Estefan, Johnny Mathis and Calum Scott.
The lead single is a rework of The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) featuring Grammy Award-winning vocalist John Legend. This year marks the 75th anniversary of Cole’s first recording of the timeless tune in 1946.
Co-producers Jay Landers and Jorge Calandrelli arranged and conducted for the whole project, sourcing the material from the original recordings and stems of Nat King Cole’s timeless album The Christmas Song and other tunes from his extensive catalogue.
Mixing and mastering was handled by co-producer and multi-Grammy-winning engineer Dave Reitza, who has worked on projects featuring Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. He was also behind the mixing for Natalie and Nat “King” Cole’s award-winning father-daughter virtual duet of Unforgettable in 1991.
