Watch the official trailer:
Over the course of a more than 40-year career, John Scofield first rose to prominence in Miles Davis’s band and has since work with many other prominent jazz musicians including Charles Mingus, Gerry Mulligan, Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson and Chet Baker. With his unique style and sound, he has become one of today’s most influential guitarists and composers of jazz and fusion.
Inside Scofield covers the musician’s fast-paced life on the road, his secluded life at home in Katonah and the memorable times in his old neighbourhood in New York. Along the way, Scofield comments on several important questions in music: What is improvisation? What has changed throughout his long career? And how has this change affected the music and how can one sustain its quality?
Joerg Steineck is a German independent filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, writer and painter. Inside Scofield is his third completely self-produced, feature-length music documentary.
