Terri Lyne Carrington, Gregory Porter and Kamasi Washington are among the many jazz musicians who are set to perform in this year’s pre-Grammys celebrations.
Carrington and her band Social Science, nominated this year for best jazz instrumental album, will be part of the Grammy Awards premiere ceremony on Sunday, March 14, at 3 p.m. ET, ahead of the official awards show that night.
The premiere ceremony will kick off with a tribute performance celebrating the 50th anniversary of the classic Marvin Gaye song Mercy, Mercy Me (The Ecology). The special performance will feature the Afro-Peruvian Jazz Orchestra, Thana Alexa, John Beasley, Regina Carter, Bebel Gilberto, Gregory Porter, Grace Potter, säje and Kamasi Washington, among others.
