Canadian vocalist David Clayton-Thomas is honouring the hard work and sacrifice of essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic with a new music video for Long Night.
The song originally appeared on the singer’s 2018 album Mobius, which was his first album of original material in nearly a decade.
The music video features dozens of photographs of signs, drawings and public art showing love, support and thanks for front-line workers.
“This is a song for the unsung heroes,” Clayton-Thomas says. “I wanted to say thank you to the paramedics, firefighters, police officers, doctors, nurses, essential workers… I wanted to say thank you to all of the folks that put their lives on the line every day in dangerous and uncertain times.”
Having risen to prominence as the frontman of the jazz-rock band Blood, Sweat & Tears, Clayton-Thomas has won multiple Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Canadian Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and Canada’s Walk of Fame.
Earlier this year, Clayton-Thomas released his latest album, the politically charged Say Somethin’.
