Cécile McLorin Salvant raises money for public health in Haiti

Cécile McLorin Salvant has partnered with the Haitian Global Health Alliance for an intimate performance to raise money for public health in Haiti.

All proceeds from the Grammy-winning vocalist’s recorded performance will benefit GHESKIO, a world-renowned public health organization serving patients in Haiti.

GHESKIO, which operates a network of clinics in Port-au-Prince and throughout Haiti, is an international leader in clinical care and research for HIV, tuberculosis and other infectious and chronic diseases.

“Ms. Salvant has been a generous musical champion for Haitian causes, including GHESKIO,” said Scott Morgan, executive director of the Haitian Global Health Alliance. “Her vocal talent and genre-spanning repertoire are unmatched in the jazz world today.”

The performance was recorded at Salvant’s loft in Brooklyn with pianist Sullivan Fortner. The video is available to watch now through May 31 at gheskio.org. Viewers may choose the amount they wish to donate.

Salvant has won three Grammy Awards for best jazz vocal album. Last year, she received the prestigious MacArthur Foundation fellowship and a Doris Duke Artist Award.
