This latest single marks the Juno-nominated artist’s second collaboration with keyboardist and producer Joel Visentin (of JV’s Boogaloo Squad).
A jazz-pop track infused with elements of R&B and soul, Blue Monday was written and performed with “love and compassion for the lonely, scared and chronically depressed.”
The song is the latest in a string of singles that Barbra Lica has released in 2022, following In 40 Years and Girls Like Me.
In the past couple of years, Lica has also released several other singles including 2020’s lockdown-era love letter Hello From My Basement, a benefit for the Daily Bread Food Bank.
Earlier this year, Lica also completed the lengthy project of creating orchestral arrangements of a selection of songs from throughout her decade-long career, in collaboration with trombonist and composer Anders Azzopardi.
Lica released her latest studio album You’re Fine in 2018.
