Jamie Cullum – Taller

The British phenom’s new album will feature all original compositions, and the title track is an early single release. Barrelhouse meets James Taylor in this bold, bluesy cut. The full album comes out June 7 on Blue Note.

Theo Croker – The Messenger

Trumpeter Theo Croker always keeps things interesting, and he’s back with a new record where he’s taken on production, songwriting and performance duties. This eclectic tune featuring pianist ELEW is a new one you need to add to your collection.

Snarky Puppy – Bling Bling

Far-out tech soars into the atmosphere as an explosive rhythm section erupts below in this terrific new recording from the Grammy-winning band led by Michael League. You can catch them at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on Sept. 7 in Toronto.

Molly Johnson – Meaning to Tell Ya

The title tune from the Canadian icon’s most recent record is a groovy, sultry one that deserves lots of listens all season long.

Emilie-Claire Barlow – Waters of March

This is a long-time favourite from the two-time Juno Award winner. Working from a composition by Brazilian great Antônio Carlos Jobim, the beloved Canadian singer churns out a Latin-tinged tune that’s perfect for summer. She’ll be playing Koerner Hall on June 25 as part of the TD Toronto Jazz Festival.

Kendrick Scott Oracle – Mocean

With everything but the kitchen sink thrown into it, this Blue Note release produced by Derrick Hodge is hard to categorize, but one thing is for sure — it’s a fantastic recording you need to hear.

Tower of Power – What Is Hip?

Funk rarely gets any better than it was in 1973, and this is a tune from the band’s third and most popular recording that still stays red hot all these years later. They’ll be at the Danforth Music Hall on June 25 for the TD Toronto Jazz Festival.

JV’s Boogaloo Squad – Slacktivision

Soulful sounds from Toronto’s own organ trio that’ll get you up and moving in no time. Plus, they’ll be doing a Live to Air concert here at the Long & McQuade Performance Hall in the JAZZ.FM91 studios on May 30 — so don’t miss out.
